Private jet tracked landing in Lafayette. Unconfirmed if he was aboard — we're calling it anyway.

Booster recovery happens back at the Texas site itself (landed in the Gulf or caught by the tower) — not shown as a separate point at this scale. The Indian Ocean marker is a general zone, not a precise landing coordinate.

  • Follow the sky

Live launch-viewing conditions for Vermilion Parish — cloud cover matters as much as the countdown clock.

  • Taste the parish

Crawfish, boudin, zydeco, and Mardi Gras — culture that was here long before anyone talked about launch windows.

  • Wear it

Merch is in the works. A crawfish in a spacesuit was always going to happen eventually.

Around the state, right now

Loading live conditions for six spots around Louisiana…

In brief Not a washout, but there's rain to watch in the next few days — don't lock in outdoor plans without checking back if you're timing something around the weather.

Today

It's shaping up to be a gray and overcast day, with a high near 77°F and a low around 72°F. Wind runs up to about 15 mph. Keep an eye on this before heading out for a launch.

This weekend

Saturday and Sunday look socked in with cloud cover, with highs near 77°F and lows around 62°F. Good visibility if a launch window falls today.

Looking ahead

Nothing significant on the horizon beyond that at the moment. We'll flag it here quickly if a front, tropical system, or anything else worth planning around comes into view.

  • Why it's here

Clear skies and low wind matter for anyone driving out to watch a launch — this tab exists so the SpaceParish community always knows before they load up the truck.

Food & culture

Long before anyone built a launch pad here, this was Acadiana — and that culture isn't going anywhere. Our own crawfish went to space before the rockets did.

  • The boil

Crawfish season runs roughly late winter through early summer, and a backyard boil — potatoes, corn, sausage, and enough cayenne to make a point — is still the region's real town hall.

  • Cajun & Creole

Two distinct food traditions that get lumped together: Cajun cooking grew out of rural Acadiana, Creole out of New Orleans' city kitchens. Both show up on a good boudin or gumbo, for different reasons.

  • Zydeco & Cajun music

Accordion, fiddle, and a rubboard, sung mostly in French — this is still living, working music, played at dance halls across the parish most weekends.

  • Mardi Gras, Acadiana style

Out here it's less parade, more countryside Courir de Mardi Gras — costumed riders chasing chickens through the fields for the community gumbo pot.

  • The boudin trail

Gas-station boudin is a genuine local pastime and a point of fierce, friendly pride — everyone has an opinion about whose is best.

  • Festival season

From crawfish festivals to rice festivals to Mardi Gras runs, Acadiana's calendar is built around gathering. We'll post specific dates here as they're confirmed.

Gumbo season

The pots are coming out again. A couple of gumbo landmarks worth knowing — from a Lafayette dining room to a wide-open cookoff in New Iberia.
